“A Denver credit-repair company has been sued by the state Attorney General’s Office for allegedly charging upfront fees for its services, which is illegal under federal and state law, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers said Monday.
Veracity Credit Consultants charged customers an initial setup fee of $99 and monthly fees of as much as $79, according to the complaint, which was filed in Denver District Court. Under Colorado law, a credit-repair firm can only charge fees once its services are complete.
Veracity also is alleged to have failed to disclose to its clients the total amount they would be charged for credit-repair services.”
